THE DINNER
We created a film for Polygon that grabs the viewer’s attention from the very first frame and keeps them engaged all the way to the end. The goal was to creatively and compellingly showcase Polygon’s three key areas of expertise — air, fire, and water — while conveying the company’s professionalism and critical work.
The film concept revolved around a dinner table, serving as a metaphor for what we hold dear. Here, the three elements came together, essential for life when in balance but potentially dangerous if uncontrolled. A factual voiceover served as the driving force of the film, explaining Polygon’s work in a metaphorical and evocative way, enhancing both understanding and emotional engagement.
Visually, we focused on close-ups to create an imaginative experience. The imagery provided enough context for the viewer to grasp the narrative while leaving room for interpretation and reflection. The lighting, centered on the dinner table, added a theatrical touch, and the absence of faces lent the film a universal, anonymous tone.
The rhythm of the film was carefully constructed. It began with a calm and contemplative pace to establish the mood, but shifted dramatically at the turning point where the film freezes and starts playing in reverse. This faster tempo increased intensity and avoided monotony, while the conclusion returned to a harmonious calm, giving the visuals room to breathe.
Music played a central role, chosen to enhance the metaphorical tone. It combined a sense of timelessness with a subtle drive that mirrored the narrative’s progression. To further amplify the film’s impactful visuals, we worked meticulously on the sound design, emphasizing details and enhancing the atmosphere.
The result was a film that not only illustrated Polygon’s areas of expertise but also offered an engaging visual and emotional journey, delivering a message as clear as it is powerful.
