To raise awareness about mental health and encourage more people to seek help, we partnered with Nykvarn Kommun to create a poignant and thought-provoking film. The film aims to destigmatize the subject and show that help is available, often just a phone call away, while emphasizing the importance of reaching out for support during difficult times.

In the film, we follow several individuals whose stories reflect different types of mental health struggles. We meet a young person dealing with feelings of exclusion and self-criticism, a man grappling with gambling addiction and financial difficulties, and an elderly person with Finnish roots who experiences deep loneliness. By intertwining their narratives, the film provides a broader understanding of how mental health issues can affect people at different stages of life.

The storytelling is powerful through brief quotes and meaningful silences, allowing the viewer space to reflect and empathize with the characters. The visual style is simple and documentary-like, with each setting and facial expression used to mirror the characters’ inner worlds. Through this understated and authentic aesthetic, we create a strong connection between the audience and the characters, with the goal of encouraging more people to seek help and understand they are not alone in their feelings.

We are particularly proud that this project, with its important message, has been nominated for the Publishingpriset 2024.
